Q's and A's (your most asked)

Our most asked questions

Q. How much do you charge for a cake.

A.. Our cakes are priced per tier and by size. Size is usually dictated by how many portions of cake you're needing. You can find our sizes and prices on our website menu page for details.

Q. How close to the day do I have to order my cake?

A. Our turnaround is two weeks minimum, prior to your order date for birthday cakes and 6 months minimum for weddings. This is so we can purchase all the necessary items to fulfil your order, like toppers, boards, special boxes and edible prints ect. We have this time because some of the items occasionally are out of stock from our usual suppliers so it gives us time to shop around and get the bits needed for your cake/s.

Q..Do you charge for delivery?

A.. Yes we do charge for delivery, by the mile. As we have to buy fuel and keep our vehicle roadworthy to deliver your goods.

Q..Can you make Disney themed cakes?

A. Due to Disney's copyright policy we are not allowed to make or use their intellectual property to make money for our business. Unless we want to pay £25000 per item..and that's not money we have. Where Disney themed cakes are concerned we will make a cake (our intellectual property) and buy a licensed plastic topper (Disney's) as we do not want any lawsuits coming our way.

Q.. How fresh is your fresh fish! Lol, How fresh are your cakes?

A.. very. Each cake is freshly baked, made to fulfill your order, so they aren't frozen then thawed and decorated. (Not that there's anything wrong with that) but they are made just for you and baked fresh. Not stored for weeks. As we just don't have the space.

Q.. Can you do last-minute cakes?

A.. Sorry but no we don't do last-minute bookings. We don't have space to hold frozen cake to decorate quickly. And we usually buy the items and ingredients for the order. They are usually delivered by courier and that is approx a week lead time, so our business at the shortest, has a two-week minimum prior to the order due date to allow for this lead time, on orders. Sorry.

Q.. Can you make me a flavour not on the menu?

A.. yes if we can find the ingredients and a recipe.

Q.. Can I amend my order if I change my mind?

A.. yes but only if you have ordered well before the two weeks before your cake is due. If its in the two weeks leading upto your cake due date then I will have already purchased the items for the original cake design. And will not be able to change the design. If its flavour or size then I may be able to accommodate.

Q.. Do I have to tell you if anyone at the party who might eat the cake has allergies or intolerances?

A.. emphatically Yes!.. if the guest/s have food allergies or intolerances and I don't know about them, and they consume a cake from us and become ill, I am made liable. By law, I have to check for food allergies and intolerances, and give a breakdown of ingredients before you order and then when you have the cake. And there are always a full allergen list, and ingredients info on the cake box, as I don't want anyone ill from eating something they shouldn't. And that includes toppers and chocs. Some people are so intolerant that even traces (left over bits) can cause a problem. So yes, please take it very seriously as people can die if not.

Q.. Can I have fresh flowers on my cake?

A.. Yes you can as long as they are in the foodsafe category. As many fresh flowers are in fact poisonous. And some of the pesticides that flowers are sprayed with are poisnonus too , so all fresh flowers need handling correctly for food hygiene and food safety legislation. In the baking industry we have a list of accepted safe flowers for use with and around food so that no-one gets sick.

And yes your florist might know what they're doing with the flowers, but do they know the list of food safe flowers? Or the fsa legislation🤔 ?

Is aesthetic, more important than your health? on some of the most important days of your life? ( I know laying it on thick I'm sorry, but it's important for you and your guests) if you want fresh flowers please leave it to your baker.

Q.. Can I collect my cake?

A.. Yes. We will give you advice on how to safely transport your cake, so it doesn't become a smooshed or damaged mess, by the time you've got to your destination. If you choose not to follow our advice and the cake gets smooshed or damaged.. we may not be able to offer a refund. Check our T's and C's on our website for full details.

Q..If I Change my mind altogether can I cancel the order?

A.. Yes. We hope you won't but life happens, sometimes venues get cancelled. Sometimes people fall out or worse, so yes if there is a problem. You are within your right to cancel your order. Just message us and let us know and we will send by email a cancellation form please fill it out and send it back. And we can process your refund.
